Pasadena Public Library features a plethora of activities for the community, both virtual and on-site, between September 28 through October 3.
First, on Monday, have fun with Tiff and Tosh on Monday, as they lead simple craft sessions using items around your home or garden. This is an online event from 3 to 3:15 p.m., presented on Instagram Live @pasadenalibrary, and intended for adults ages 18 and up.
Next, the Library is offering drive-thru flu shot clinics on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 29 and 30.
Tuesday’s clinic will be at Hastings Branch Library, at 3325 E Orange Grove Blvd., from 3 to 5 p.m. Flu shots are available on a first come, first served basis, and there will be no reservations.
On Wednesday, the drive-thru flu shots clinic will be at the Central Library, at 285 E. Walnut Street, 3 to 5 p.m.
To receive a flu shot, you must be at least 18 years old, or giving consent for your child ages 9 to 17. You must not be allergic to eggs or the influenza vaccine, and not have a history of Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
There will be 100 shots per site, and to decrease exposure to COVID-19, nurses will handle all paperwork. The public will be given a CDC Vaccine Information Statement to fill as their consent and nurses will write down their names. A minimum of four nurses will be scheduled at each site.
Clients do not need to get out of their vehicle, although they are advised to wear sleeveless or short sleeve tops and have their upper arms exposed before driving up to the flu shot station to facilitate traffic flow.
Also on Wednesday, the Library is hosting a “Lucha Libros” Zoom meeting, where 2nd graders will have the opportunity to learn about the Lucha Libros reading competition, make Lucha Libre masks, and have a chance to win points and prizes. After the event, which is from 6:15 to 7 p.m., you can check out books for October, and Lucha Libros will return each month, on the third Wednesday, to answer questions about the books you read.
Finally, Fridays, including October 2, offer virtual Fro(zen) Fridays, where participants can practice meditation and yoga, from 4 to 4:30 p.m.
This event is open and free to all. The Library gives out free fruit pops for pickup with your registration. Pickups are at Jackie Robinson Center the week of the event. Instructions will be sent in the confirmation email after your register.
A limited number of yoga mats are available for 18 to 24 year olds for Fro(zen) Friday. The event is made possible by the Innovation (INN) 2 Grant: Developing Trauma Resilient Communities through Community Capacity Building. Register through www.cityofpasadena.net/library/calendar, then check your email for login and pickup instructions.
For all the other events this week, check the Pasadena Public Library calendar at www.cityofpasadena.net/library/calendar, click the appropriate event, and register when necessary.
