The Work of Jim Hendrick On Display In Pasadena Village Exhibition

Published on Jan 5, 2023

Pasadena Village member Jim Hendrick, who doodles and spends hours and countless sheets of paper drawing “whatever came into my head,” will be sharing his works of art at the Pasadena Village Office on Monday, Jan. 9, starting at 12 noon.

“I am a doodler,” he says in a statement on the Pasadena Village events webpage. “At work, in meetings or anytime I was bored, I reached for a pen and paper. Sometimes, I drew on cocktail napkins or advertising flyers. With retirement came the gift of free time. Free time gave me the headspace to allow for creative thoughts which led me to want to create something.”

Hendrick is a retired therapist who practiced in Kentucky, Sarasota, Houston, Ft. Worth, and Chicago. Using his free time after retirement, he has accumulated much art work, and many of these will be on the exhibit; about 16 paintings on canvas, 25 paintings on paper and a sketch book.

“After I gave myself permission to use art as a way to explore myself I discovered new parts of me,” he said. “Every time I do anything creative I learn something new about myself and the world. I hope you enjoy my work.”

All of the artwork will be on sale with 40 percent going to Pasadena Village. The Village’s Cultural Activities Committee has organized the exhibition.

“If you’d like to check out more of my art please follow my Instagram @PhatmustardArt,” he said.

The Pasadena Village Office is at 236 W. Mountain Street #104 in Pasadena.
