The Leigh Purtill Ballet Company in La Cañada Flintridge presents “Sweet Sorrow, A Zombie Ballet,” a cinematic streaming of the original sequel to Shakespeare’s classic “Romeo & Juliet” created by Artistic Director Leigh Purtill.
For those who have “a dark romantic soul and an intense desire to experience the underworld,” the cinematic recording is available this Halloween weekend, Friday, Oct. 28, through Monday, Oct. 31.
The story resumes with the funeral of star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. A mysterious and powerful apothecary awakens and lures them into her underworld as they shed their living bodies. You’ll follow Juliet’s cousin, Rosaline, who encounters zombies, lost souls, spiders, werewolves, a mighty Raven Queen, in her quest to bring back her dear cousin and perhaps also a part of herself she never knew.
Friday’s stream begins at 5 p.m.
Tickets are $25 to $60.
