Small fingers grip wooden blocks dripping with vibrant paints, creating patterns that would make Mondrian smile. At the Southern California Children’s Museum, summer means getting messy with purpose through Block Party Prints, a twice-daily art adventure that transforms stamping into an exploration of color, shape, and creativity.

The hands-on program runs at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. every day during summer programming. Inspired by SCCM’s “Summer in the City” theme, children explore color, shape, and pattern using wooden blocks and vibrant paints.

Founded in 2013 by Catherine Mi Welch and parents recognizing an underserved need for public early childhood education, the museum serves children ages 0 to 7 and their families, reaching nearly 23,000 people in 2022.

Located at 459 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, the museum operates Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be closed Friday, July 4 for Independence Day.

General admission costs $10 per person over age one (children under one enter free). Senior and military discounts are $9, while Museums for All admission costs $3 with a valid EBT card and photo ID. An $80 Play Pass provides 10 visits.

Free parking is available behind the museum on Los Robles, between Colorado Boulevard and Union Street.

“Block Party Prints” will run on Tuesday, July 29 at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. At Southern California Children’s Museum, 459 E. Colorado Blvd., in Pasadena. For more call (626) 657-0357 or visit https://socalkids.org/event/block-party-prints/2025-07-29/.
