The creative team behind the 2014 Tony Award-winning musical “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” is reuniting for Peter Shaffer’s “Amadeus,” opening Feb. 11 at Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena.

Director Darko Tresnjak, who won the 2014 Tony Award for “A Gentleman’s Guide,” leads a cast headed by Tony winner Jefferson Mays as the bitter court composer Antonio Salieri, with British actor Sam Clemmett — best known for originating Albus Potter in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” — as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The production reunites the core “Gentleman’s Guide” team: Mays, actress Lauren Worsham, two-time Tony-winning costume designer Linda Cho, and Drama Desk Award-winning projection designer Aaron Rhyne.

Strong ticket sales prompted the theater to extend the run through March 15, a week beyond its originally announced closing.

The production arrives at a watershed moment for Pasadena Playhouse. On April 4, the theater completed the $9.5 million purchase of its historic 1925 building, returning the 70,000-square-foot campus to Playhouse ownership after 55 years.

Pasadena Playhouse, designated California’s Official State Theater in 1937, received the 2023 Regional Theatre Tony Award.

The production runs Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. (Thursday at 7 p.m.), with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $48 to $142.

“Amadeus” will run Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Pasadena Playhouse, 39 S. El Molino Ave., Pasadena. Performance times: Wednesday-Saturday 8 p.m. (Thursday 7 p.m.), Sunday 2 p.m. For more information, call (626) 356-7529 or visit https://www.pasadenaplayhouse.org/event/amadeus/. Ticket prices: $40-$127.
