Tour Two Pasadena Historic Gems: Ford Place and Blinn House

Published on Jun 13, 2021

Pasadena Village is hosting a virtual tour of the Ford Place Historic District and the Blinn House on Thursday, June 17, 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Zoom.

Patty Judy, Education Director at Pasadena Heritage, will lead the virtual tour of Ford Place, which was developed between 1902 and 1916 as an exclusive upscale residential neighborhood.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Ford Place was a private street until 1953, when most of the District became part of the Fuller Theological Seminary campus.

The District is an excellent example of adaptive reuse, where older structures, which have outlived their original function, are repurposed while retaining their historic appearance. Many of the homes in the neighborhood were designed by well-known Pasadena architects such as C.W. Buchanan, Sylvanus Marston, and Frederick L. Roehrig.

The Blinn House, where you will take a closer interior look during the virtual tour, was designed by George Washington Maher, from Chicago.

Maher is known to have built only two homes in California. The Blinn House is listed separately on the National Register of Historic places.

This free virtual tour is organized by Pasadena Village’s Cultural Activities Committee.

To register, call (626) 765-6037 or visit www.pasadenavillage.org and go to the Events tab. You will receive a link to the Zoom event after registration.
