The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino has announced the return of its weekly musical performances featuring traditional Chinese instruments.

Supported by the Justin Vajna Memorial Fund for Educational Programs in the Chinese Garden, the series showcases different solo musicians every Wednesday afternoon from January through March.

Visitors can experience unamplified melodies played on classical Chinese instruments including the dizi, pipa, and erhu during the two-hour performances each Wednesday afternoon.

The musical series includes performances on Jan. 29, Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26, and March 5, running from 1 to 3 p.m. in six consecutive weeks.

The announcement by The Huntington said the performances aim to “transport you to another time and place” within “one of the most magical landscapes in Southern California.”

The musical presentations are free with general admission to The Huntington. The events may be canceled due to rain or excessive heat, the announcement said.
