Tribute to ‘Creature From the Black Lagoon’ Surfaces at Sugarmynt Gallery

A new art exhibit celebrating the iconic 1954 horror film “Creature From the Black Lagoon” is set to make waves in South Pasadena, California. The Sugarmynt Gallery, known for its horror-themed exhibitions, will host “From the Depths: A Tribute Exhibit to Creature From the Black Lagoon” from June 29 to Aug. 10.

The opening reception, scheduled for June 29 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., will take place at 810 Meridian Ave. in South Pasadena. The exhibit promises an array of artwork inspired by the classic monster movie.

Located behind the original Michael Myers house, a filming location for the 1978 slasher film “Halloween,” the Sugarmynt Gallery has gained recognition for its thoughtfully curated themed exhibitions.

One artist contributing to the exhibit, known on social media as Destiny  @Artsy_Ghoul, expressed enthusiasm for the event. “Summerween is in full swing and my newest piece will be on display starting this Saturday at the CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON tribute exhibit in Pasadena, CA!” Destiny tweeted.

The exhibit’s theme revolves around “Creature From the Black Lagoon,” directed by Jack Arnold. The film has left an indelible mark on the horror genre since its release in 1954.
