Remember the car hop? Waitresses on roller skates delivering your meal right to your car? Then attaching the tray to your door so you can enjoy your burger,  fries, and shake while listening to your favorite doo-wop group?

Of course you don’t. But that’s why we’re here, mes amis.

Otherwise, how would you know that Twoheys Restaurant just over the city line down in South Pasadena, a San Gabriel Valley icon since 1943, has revved up the tradition and is debuting a new Curbside Carhop, 21st Century style?

“We are proud to re-introduce the carhop dining concept that was first introduced by the Twohey  family decades ago.  We believe that bringing back this tradition allows diners to visit more often while enjoying our old time favorites and new menu items and practicing safety protocols from the safe haven of their own cars,” said co-owner Tanya Christos.

Gerardo Talamantes, Sr. and Enrique Elias, Twohey’s executive chefs, have also created three distinctive menus as part of the new take-out service

Here we go:

Breakfast ToGo:  Classic Buttermilk or Old-Fashioned Pancakes, French Toast, Belgian Malted Waffle, and handcrafted Corned Beef Hash. https://www.twoheys.com/menu/breakfast-togo/

Lunch ToGo:  The classic Original Stink-O Burger, Twoheys’ Original Onion Rings, Heckels Prime Rib Dip Sandwich and Fish & Chips. (https://www.twoheys.com/menu/lunch-togo/)

Dinner ToGo:  Handcrafted Meat Loaf, House-Roasted Turkey Dinner and Southern Fried Chicken. https://www.twoheys.com/menu/dinner-take-out-delivery/

Cocktails ToGo:  Meridian, Snake Trail, Seco Washout and Raymond Old Fashioned, https://www.twoheys.com/menu/cocktail-menu/

There are also the award-winning bittersweet, milk chocolate and caramel sundaes, as well as seven hand-crafted specialty cocktails, like the signature cocktail, the “Stink-o-Tini.”

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner is available from Twoheys’ ToGo Menus by calling (626) 284-7387 and pressing #1, just 30 minutes in advance to place an order and reserve one of the six designated parking spaces. Twohey’s is open six days a week, except Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Twoheys is at 424 Fair Oaks Avenue in South Pasadena, California 91030.   (626) 284-7387, www.twoheys.com.
