On the second Sunday of each month, Arlington Garden transforms into an outdoor studio where yoga meets live music under a canopy of pepper trees.

Resonance: A Yoga & Sound Journey, led by Pasadena-born yoga teacher and musician Qur’an Shaheed, offers participants a chance to move, breathe and listen in one of the city’s public gardens. The next session is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“The late morning/early afternoon session blends movement, breath, and live music outdoors to deepen the mind-body-nature connection,” according to Arlington Garden’s event description.

Each month features a different guest musician, creating what organizers describe as both a recurring wellness class and an evolving live performance.

The series is organized in partnership with Living Earth, described as a “LA-based membership-supported arts organization collectively owned and operated by its workers: local musicians, artists, and organizers.”

For those hesitant about their yoga abilities, the event description makes clear that “Participation is optional, and if you just want to lay underneath the trees and listen that’s absolutely encouraged!”

The sessions are described as an “immersive experience” that “weaves together flowing asana, guided breathwork, and intuitive soundscapes, creating space for inner alignment and self-discovery.”

The February session will take place in the lower garden underneath the pepper tree.

“Thanks to a generous grant, these monthly classes are now free of charge with RSVP to Living Earth required due to limited capacity,” according to the event listing.
