The 1885 cottage, built by Elias J. “Lucky” Baldwin and listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1980, opens to the public for walkthrough tours only six days each year during this event. The Victorian Holiday at the Queen Anne Cottage is presented by the Pasadena-based Georgina Fredrick Children’s Foundation.
Event dates include Nov. 29-30, Dec. 6-7 and Dec. 13-14, with daily hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The historic core of the garden will be transformed into a holiday marketplace featuring more than 30 local vendors, Victorian entertainment, visits with Santa and the special cottage tours.
Walkthrough tours require separate tickets at $10 for members and $25 for nonmembers, which includes garden admission. Tours run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day and are not recommended for children under 12. Marketplace and lawn festivities are included in paid garden admission and free to members.
Victorian-themed dance performances take place on the historic lawn at noon on Nov. 30 and Dec. 6, while Victorian carolers perform at noon on Nov. 29, Dec. 7, 13 and 14. Santa visits are available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Children can decorate an English Christmas crown and create a Victorian pickle ornament. The final day, Dec. 14, includes a special reading of Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” at noon.
