Although the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena is closed until further notice, Free People, the specialty women’s clothing brand, and the Rose Bowl Stadium have partnered to put together a virtual Rose Bowl Flea Market so people can still support the local economy.
Beginning on Sunday, Oct. 11, the Virtual Rose Bowl Flea Market x Free People goes online, and you can discover vintage clothing and local artistry all from the comfort of your home, Free People and the Rose Bowl said in a statement.
“For over 50 years, Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Flea Market has been a destination for one-of-a-kind finds and vintage treasures,” Free People said in a post on their website. “This year, with the shopping mecca pausing its in-person event, they’re partnering with us to bring their iconic market online. Through the remainder of this year, visit us for a new virtual Rose Bowl Flea Market. Discover can’t-miss styles and new sellers from across America – all while supporting sustainable shopping and small businesses.”
Rose Bowl management said they are working diligently with government health officials to bring the 50-year tradition back in the safest way possible for patrons and vendors.
In normal times, vintage treasure hunters and bargain seekers usually flock to the Rose Bowl Flea Market, held on the second Sunday of every month, where over 2,500 vendors of antiques, vintage clothing, local art, and specialty products assemble to show their products.
On a regular Sunday, the Flea Market attracts up to 20,000 buyers, including celebrities and interior designers, with concession stands sprinkled throughout the market, offering food and drinks.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been impossible to continue the Flea Market onsite, so the Rose Bowl thought it practical to go virtual, which means the flea market can be a year-long event.
