Vroman’s Bookstore will hold its weekly children’s storytime on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at its store in Pasadena.

The free program, listed as “Storytime with Mr. Steve and Miss Marie,” is described by the bookstore as a family storytime that combines songs led by Miss Marie with children’s stories read aloud by Mr. Steve, according to the bookstore’s event listing.

The session takes place at 695 East Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, in the store’s children’s department. According to the store’s listing, the storytime is a recurring program held every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. No admission charge is listed, and no advance registration is noted for the session.

The event is categorized on the bookstore’s calendar under both community and family programming and children’s events. It is one entry in a broad slate of children’s offerings the store schedules through the week and on weekends, ranging from read-aloud sessions to craft activities. The store’s published hours for Wednesdays run from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., placing the late-morning storytime within regular operating hours for families arriving with young children.

Vroman’s Bookstore states on its website that it hosts hundreds of free community events each year, including children’s storytimes, craft classes and author signings. The store is a member of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, according to the chamber’s business directory. Its location on East Colorado Boulevard sits within Pasadena’s Playhouse District, a walkable stretch of the city known for its concentration of shops, restaurants and cultural venues.

The bookstore was founded in Pasadena in 1894 by Adam Clark Vroman and describes itself as Southern California’s oldest and largest independent bookstore, according to its website. The store’s “About” page states that Vroman moved to Pasadena in the late 1800s and opened the business after selling his personal book collection. Vroman’s currently operates two locations.

Beyond the Aug. 5 storytime, the bookstore’s public calendar lists additional children’s and family programming in early August, including a summer reading program event scheduled for the following day. The store also hosts regular author appearances and book signings for adult and young-adult readers throughout the month, several of which are held at its East Colorado Boulevard location.

Families planning to attend the Aug. 5 storytime do not need tickets, based on the information posted on the bookstore’s event listing.
