Bolton Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Pasadena-based insurance broker Bolton and Company, is holding Throw Down 2021 on October 25, the latest edition of Bolton’s Cornhole Tournament, and their largest – and most fun – fundraising event of the year.

If you want to have some fun while helping raise money for worthy causes, now is the right time to put together a team and get ready for Throw Down 2021, which happens at the Rose Bowl. By signing up, your support goes directly toward empowering incredible nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve, a Bolton Foundation announcement said.

“This is our chance to give back to those who have given so much to the communities where we work, live and grow,” Mike Morey, Bolton and Company’s Chief Operating Officer and Foundation Chairman, said. “It’s a lot of fun for an amazing cause, and everyone who takes part can leave knowing that they have helped empower some incredible organizations.”

The company has been holding Throw Down as an annual competition, where players take turns throwing 16-ounce bags of corn kernels at a raised board with a hole in the far end, to raise funds for charities.

Each year, teams composed of Bolton employees, clients and partners sign up to compete, and money is generated through participation fees and sponsorship opportunities. The proceeds are used to provide grant funding for future Bolton Foundation Beacons, in addition to smaller donations provided to select nonprofits throughout the year.

A Bolton Foundation Beacon is a nonprofit organization that the foundation selects for its outstanding philanthropic efforts.

A major component during each annual Throw Down is the Bolton Foundation Beacon award ceremony, where each of four nonprofit organizations selected by the Bolton Foundation Committee is presented a grant funding check to provide additional support for the work they do.

After Throw Down, The Bolton Foundation Committee provides additional donations throughout the year to deserving nonprofits in California.
