Weekly ‘Fire Recovery Thursdays’ Connect Eaton Fire Victims to Jobs at Altadena AJCC

County-organized pop-up events bring employers, training programs and supportive services to job seekers affected by the January 2025 fires
Published on Jun 9, 2026

Every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the America’s Job Center of California branch on West Woodbury Road in Altadena fills up with job seekers, employers and case managers as part of “Fire Recovery Thursdays,” a weekly recruitment pop-up coordinated by Los Angeles County.

The next session takes place Thursday, June 11. The events, organized by the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity, are part of the broader recovery infrastructure that emerged after the Eaton Fire devastated much of West Altadena in January 2025, displacing thousands of residents and disrupting employment for many more. The fire’s path through Altadena destroyed homes, businesses and several Pasadena Unified School District campuses, leaving a workforce footprint that the county is still working to rebuild.

Job seekers can connect with employers offering immediate openings, learn about paid career training programs, and access supportive services that help fill the gaps between losing a job and finding the next one — including resume help, interview preparation and referrals to other recovery resources. The events are designed to be drop-in, with no appointment required, and participating employers vary from week to week.

America’s Job Centers of California are part of a network of one-stop career centers funded through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. The Altadena location, at 464 West Woodbury Road, Suite 210, serves as the local hub for the recurring recovery sessions, with similar Thursday events at AJCC locations across Los Angeles County.

The program is open to anyone whose employment was affected by the January 2025 fires — including workers laid off, businesses that closed, and people whose home losses required them to relocate and find work elsewhere.

Fire Recovery Thursdays will run every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. America’s Job Center of California, 464 West Woodbury Road, Suite 210, in Altadena.
