What We’re Watching: Netflix Dramedy `Ginny & Georgia’ Tops Streaming Viewership

“Ginny & Georgia” topped Nielsen’s weekly report on streaming viewership released Thursday, with viewers watching 953 million minutes of the 10-episode Netflix dramedy in its five days of release.

The previous week’s leader, “Good Girls,” dropped to second, with viewers watching 898 million minutes of the 33 episodes of the NBC crime comedy- drama between Feb. 22-28. Viewership was down 16.6% from the 1.077 billion minutes watched between Feb. 15-21.

The 11-episode third season of “Good Girls” began streaming on Netflix Feb. 16.

The only other program making its debut in the Top 10 was Netflix’s six-episode psychological thriller “Behind Her Eyes,” which was seventh for the week with 577 million minutes watched in its first five days of release.

“CoComelon” returned to the Top 10 after a two-week absence, finishing ninth for the week. Viewers watched 534 million minutes of the Netflix six-episode 3D animated series of videos of traditional nursery rhymes and original children’s songs.

Dropping out of the Top 10 were the four-part Netflix documentary series “Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel”; the 10-part Netflix drama “Firefly Lane”; and the 24-episode 2017-20 USA Network anthology crime drama “The Sinner.”

For the fourth consecutive week “WandaVision” was the lone non- Netflix program in the Top 10, rising three spots to sixth with 732 million minutes watched, 1.7% more than the 720 million minutes watched the previous week. The eighth episode of the Disney+ blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe debuted Feb. 26.

“WandaVision” was the most-streamed program among male viewers, while “Ginny & Georgia” was first among females.

Nielsen also releases viewership figures for programming streamed on Hulu and Amazon Prime Video.

The top 10 consisted of six programs that originally aired on U.S. or Canadian broadcast or cable channels, three original streaming programs and one movie, “I Care a Lot,” which rose three spots to third with 807 million minutes watched in its first full week of release. That’s a 2.2% increase from the 790 million minutes watched the previous week, when it was available for three days.

The Top 10 programs were “Ginny & Georgia”; “Good Girls”; “I Care a Lot”; “Criminal Minds”;  “Grey’s Anatomy”; “WandaVision”; “Behind Her Eyes”; “Schitt’s Creek”; “CoCoMelon”; and “iCarly.”
