Find the Tastiest Treats on Wednesday, National Dessert Day

Sweet tooths, beware! Wednesday, October 14, is National Dessert Day, and although your favorite candy shop may be closed for now, here’s a list of restaurants throughout Pasadena where you can satisfy that sweet tooth on this special day.

Bengees Ice Cream, at 901 E. Del Mar Blvd., is a one-stop destination for classic and vegan ice cream. Their creamy bun is similar to the milky bun in design, but Bengees favors dense glazed cronuts – that’s croissant donuts – instead of more basic donuts. Bengees ice cream flavors are as diverse as Southern California, including matcha green tea, horchata, churro, taro, nutella, and black sesame.

The shop also offers classics like pistachio and Dutch chocolate, and has been scooping four to five rotating vegan flavors from vendor Divine Dips. They’re open for take-out and delivery from 12 noon to 10 p.m.. Call (626) 673-1865 for more information.

The Pie Hole Sweet, at 59 E Colorado Blvd., has savory pies, plus coffee and baked goods, in a brick-walled storefront with some seating. They accept only takeaway and no-contact delivery orders, Monday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visit www.thepieholela.com.

Bloomfield Creamery, located at 1727 E. Washington Blvd., offers a variety of fresh ice cream and cookie dough flavors all made in-house. They accept orders for takeaway and no-contact delivery, Monday to Thursday from 2 to 10 p.m., and Friday to Sunday from 12 noon to 11 p.m. You can order through DoorDash, GrubHub, and UberEats as well.

Afters Ice Cream is at 1265 E, Green Street and is known for creative ice cream flavors served as scoops or stuffed between donut-like pastries. They accept delivery orders through DoorDash, Monday to Thursday, 2 p.m. to 12 midnight. Visit www.aftersicecream.com for more information.

Hello Gelato is a delicious spot to grab a scoop of Italian Gelato, freshly-made. It’s a small sweet-treat parlor that offers an impressive array of flavors. Free samples of the varieties help customers narrow their choices;  It’s located at 20 E. Colorado Blvd., and used to be Piccomolo Italian Ice Cream.
