Wine & Song Series Brings Acoustic Talent to South Pasadena

Intimate performance by acclaimed musicians continues city's tradition of supporting local arts
Published on May 28, 2025

The Wine & Song music series will present an evening of original acoustic compositions featuring Philip Krohnengold and Summer Woods on Wednesday at The Daily in South Pasadena. This weekly event continues the city’s commitment to fostering live music culture and building community through intimate artist-audience connections. The performance highlights South Pasadena’s growing reputation as a hub for independent arts.

Philip Krohnengold, a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and pianist, brings jazz-influenced complexity and narrative lyrics to the stage. His background includes collaborations with artists such as Sara Bareilles, Jackson Browne, and Madison Cunningham, as well as work with producers T Bone Burnett and Ethan Johns. His recent album, “Stick Figures,” showcases his blend of Americana and indie rock.

Summer Woods, a graduate of the Los Angeles College of Music, has emerged as a distinctive voice in the indie folk scene. The Chino Hills native draws inspiration from artists like Joni Mitchell and Regina Spektor, crafting autobiographical lyrics with a storytelling approach evident in tracks like “Pasadena.”

The event represents more than a performance – it serves as a cultural ritual reinforcing community identity. The collaborative show aligns with the American folk tradition, which values storytelling and personal narrative.

The Daily, located at 1119 Fair Oaks Avenue, transforms from café to intimate performance space. The venue’s relaxed atmosphere creates an immersive environment where audience members engage directly with performers.

Curated by musician Brad Colerick, the Wine & Song series has become a staple for local and touring singer-songwriters.
