Don’t look now, but while we’re in the midst of blue skies and an Indian summer, we’ll soon be looking straight down the barrel of a Southern California winter (such as it is).

As Pasadena re-emerges from the pandemic and enjoys the highest vaccination rates in the state, Kidspace Children’s Museum will become a land of wonder and delight at its first annual “Winter Frolic,” beginning November 19 and running through January 9, 2022.

It’s a joyful time and place for children and families to share the magic of the holidays together, according to Kidspace CEO Lisa Clements.

“Winter is a special time to get cozy together, plan adventures, and share joy, but the hustle and bustle can be hard on parents and children alike,” she said this week.

“We felt the need to create a place that looks and feels magical, where adults can join in the fun with no work and no worry, and where the big moments of the season can be experienced on a more intimate, child-sized scale,” Clements added.

The Kidspace Winter Frolic is a living fairytale where little ones can feel free to explore, create, and celebrate with their families, and a few new fantasy forest friends).

The Winter Frolic offers a flurry of experiences and programs, including an no-ice Sock Skating Rink. Sock skating is the ideal challenge for beginning skaters who can slide and spin without bothering about blades. To keep skaters safe, capacity will be limited.

Or your little one can go “ice fishing” in the Kidspace Interpretive Arroyo Stream or build a winter sculpture using special “ice blocks.”

The unique building materials look  just like large blocks of ice, but they won’t melt under the California sun.

Children can also decorate their very own snowflake at the Kidspace Winter Craft Station, creating a hand-made holiday memory to be cherished for years to come, free of charge with admission.

Kidspace also offers flexible family memberships for friends, grandparents, and your family, offering free daily admission, discounts, and early access to special events, like Winter Frolic.

More information on winter and year-round activities and memberships is available at  kidspacemuseum.org .
