Wouldn’t it be great to welcome a cute new furry friend into your home? Pets change households for the better, no question about that. And this weekend Pasadena Humane can help you find your perfect new pet for less cost, because adoption fees are waived.

Pasadena Humane and hundreds of other animal shelters across the country are teaming up with their local NBC and Telemundo stations for Clear The Shelters™, a month-long pet adoption and donation campaign through August.

Pasadena Humane’s Clear the Shelters™ adoption event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 361 S Raymond Ave. in partnership with NBC4 and Telemundo 52. The event, like many other Clear the Shelter™ events in Southern California, is sponsored by Subaru.

At this event, adoption fees will be waived for all available dogs, cats, and critters. Adoptions also include spay or neuter, a microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines.

Since this is a walk-in event, no appointment is required. Regular adoption screening will apply.

“Clear the Shelters™ is a national event. It receives a lot of promotions and there are lots of shelters that participate in that across the country,” Dia DuVernet, President and CEO of Pasadena Humane, said. “But then we’re also able to have some free adoption or reduced adoption days, thanks to generous donors who help to sponsor those days so that we can get animals into homes quickly and by waiving those adoption fees.”

Even through the COVID-19 pandemic, people continued to inquire virtually with Pasadena Humane about adopting pets, and would actually come to the shelter to meet their chosen pets to bring them home.

“So it was never a completely virtual process,” DuVernet said. “And now we are doing all of our adoptions in person and people are able to come in for their adoption appointment and see all the animals available at that time for adoption. And our counselors help to make the match with the pet that seems to be the best fit for the family and the one that they’re most interested in.”

Between January 1 and July 31 this year, Pasadena Humane reports 1,507 adoptions from their shelter.
