Young & Healthy has set Sept. 20 as the ticket deadline for its Oct. 10 Pickleball Palooza fundraiser, the Pasadena nonprofit said in its September newsletter, which also announced a free October dental clinic.

The tournament, the organization’s second, runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Arcadia County Park pickleball courts, 405 S. Santa Anita Ave. Registration is $75 for tournament play and $50 for the clinic and beginner play, and proceeds pay for the free medical, dental, mental health and insurance services the nonprofit arranges for low-income children and families across the greater Pasadena area.

The day will include food, raffle prizes and competition, with clinics for beginners and experienced players for those who do not want to compete, the newsletter said. Registration and sponsorship inquiries go to Doreen Aitelli, senior development associate, at (626) 795-5166 or daitelli@yhpasadena.org, the Pasadena Outlook reported.

The Fall USC Mobile Dental Clinic will run Oct. 15 to 23 at McKinley School and Eliot Arts Magnet, 325 S. Oak Knoll Ave. in Pasadena, according to the newsletter. Registration is required for children ages 5 to 18, and parents or guardians must commit to several appointments during the clinic week. Families schedule appointments at (626) 795-5166.

Young & Healthy sponsors the mobile clinic in collaboration with the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, treating more than 100 community children, according to the organization. The USC clinic visits Pasadena twice a year and has worked with Young & Healthy for about 31 years. Its most recent Pasadena stop was a summer dental van outside the Jefferson Branch Library, which closed Aug. 7.

The nonprofit also thanked the Creative Drinking Agency and board member Kimmy McAtee Bell for pro bono work on its new brand identity, and said it will take part in a Neighborhood Fiesta hosted by Pasadena Covenant Church from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at 539 Lake Ave., with games for children, live music, community organization booths and food.

Young & Healthy, based at 136 W. Peoria St., has connected low-income and uninsured children in Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena and Sierra Madre with free health services for about 36 years and works with a network of more than 350 volunteer physicians, dentists and mental health professionals. It reported serving 8,943 Pasadena-area families in fiscal year 2023-2024, of whom 2,201 received direct clinical services. Shelley Boyle and Liz Arnold are its co-executive directors.
