The world of Atlantica will surface in Pasadena this July as Pasadena Playhouse invites children ages 7 to 12 to step into the spotlight for Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. Part of its Playhouse Players Summer Camp, this two-week immersive theater program runs weekdays from July 7 to July 18, offering young participants a chance to explore acting, singing, dancing, and choreography in a professional theatrical setting.

Hosted at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre—located within the historic Pasadena Playhouse campus—the camp operates Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Campers begin each day with check-in and warm-ups, followed by sessions in blocking, music rehearsal, choreography, outdoor games, lunch, special workshops, and daily share-outs. The program culminates in two final performances per cast—one in the afternoon and one in the evening—on the last Thursday or Friday of the session, as scheduled for each session.

Enrollment is capped at 40 to 50 children per session, divided into two casts of 20 to 25 to ensure that every camper receives a speaking role. Scripts are distributed on the second day. For performances, campers must bring a base-layer costume of a plain white or black undershirt and black dance or bike shorts. Closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothes are required daily. Tuition is listed as $860, but families are advised to confirm the current amount with the Playhouse. While meals are not provided, children may walk with staff to nearby Playhouse Village Park for lunch, subject to Playhouse and park policy. Drop-off is at 8:50 a.m. and pick-up is at 3:30 p.m. No aftercare is offered. Parents must complete medical, walking, and photo release forms during registration.

“Bringing the highest quality theater classes to the young people in our community is one of our top priorities at the Playhouse,” said Danny Feldman, producing artistic director.
