You notice it the moment you slide behind the wheel of the 2026 GV70 Sport Prestige AWD and take a long look around. This is no longer a Korean brand trying to catch up to the Germans. This is a Korean brand that has quietly, confidently surpassed a good chunk of them.

The headline change for 2026 is the screen — a 27-inch curved panel that stretches across the dashboard in one seamless sweep, doing double duty as the gauge cluster and infotainment display. It looks modern without shouting about it. Beneath it, the cabin does the heavy lifting: fine leather, real metal switchgear, a knurled glass shift knob, quilted seats, and a Lexicon premium audio system that fills the quiet cabin nicely.

Under the hood of the Sport Prestige sits the reason to spend the extra money. A 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 makes 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. In an era when nearly every luxury SUV is downsizing to fuel-sipping fours, Genesis kept the good stuff. The V-6 is smooth, sounds terrific when you ask it to work, and pushes this SUV to 60 mph in around five seconds.

On the road, the GV70 does something a lot of luxury SUVs pretend to do but rarely pull off — it actually enjoys being driven. The steering is weighted and precise. The adaptive suspension keeps the body settled through corners without turning the ride harsh. Push it into a bend, and it holds its line. The all-wheel-drive system serves up traction without a whiff of torque steer. The ride can be a little choppy at low speeds around town, courtesy of the 21-inch wheels and their thin sidewalls, but once you’re rolling it settles nicely.

Space is adequate rather than generous. The rear seat is comfortable but not enormous, and cargo room — 29 cubic feet behind the second row, 57 with it folded —works for most cargo. That aggressively raked roofline that makes the GV70 look so good from the outside costs you a bit of practicality inside.

What the GV70 Sport Prestige delivers, in the end, is a rare combination. It’s quick without being obnoxious. It’s plush without being soft. It’s beautiful inside and out without trying too hard to prove it. And it manages, somehow, to feel more distinctly itself than most of the vehicles it competes with. That’s a hard trick to pull off in the compact luxury SUV class, where everyone tends to blur into a beige-and-black smear of leather and touchscreens.

Genesis used to sell you a lot of car for the money.
