On Friday, August 28, 2015, one of the largest career fairs to ever take place in the San Gabriel Valley helped to challenge the growing demand for an increase in local employment opportunities in the area. Multiple entities took part in a collaborative effort to make the regional Asian American Economic Fourth Annual Job & Career Fair a success.

With over 80 employers on-site offering job opportunities to nearly 500 job-seekers during the one day event, Managed Career Solutions (MCS) along with the Asian American Economic Development Enterprises, the State of California Employment Development Department (EDD), Chinatown Service Center and the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s GAIN Division worked together in organizing this important event.

“We are happy that our role in this historic event helped provide job-seekers in the San Gabriel Valley with employment opportunities,” said Esteban Magallanes, President of MCS. “These are still challenging times for our nation’s economy but we are making great strides in creating meaningful job opportunities at the local level for residents of this prominent region of Southern California”.

The Career Fair took place at Almansor Court in the City of Alhambra and was free and open to the general public. Attendees had the opportunity to take part in career-related workshops and seminars and interact with over 80 hiring entities in the private sector like Kaiser Permanente and Bank of America, and in the public sector including the Alhambra Unified School District, the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Board of Equalization and Department of Public Health.

CA Assemblymember Ed Chau walked the halls of the Career Fair to show his support of the event and spoke to job-seekers, employers and members of the media. “It thrills me to know that local jobs are becoming more available for residents of the San Gabriel Valley,” said Assemblymember Chau. “I stand committed to strengthening the economic health of this region and job creating events like this one will help fulfill our goals as a community.”
