Pasadena police said that officers who stopped a car in northwest Pasadena Saturday night for a traffic violation got a whiff of marijuana and that lead to the arrest of the driver and the discovery of 220 grams of marijuana and a “large amount of cash” in tghe car.
About 8:40 p.m. Pasadena police officers on routine patrol stopped a car in the 700 block of North Marengo Avenue driven by Jerry Barragan, 19, of Azusa, Lt. John Mercado said.
“They initiated the stop,” Mercado said, ” and when they wa;ked up to the car they smelled a strong odor of marijuana.”
During their investigation, Barragan reportedly admitted to having marijuana and granted officers permission to search his car, Mercado said. The officers allegedly found the drugs and money in Barragan’s car during the search.
