Black Lives Matter Pasadena organizer Jasmine Richards, 28, was charged Friday by the Los Angeles County District Attorney with lynching, a technical term describing the California offense of an attempt by a rioter to force a detainee from police custody.
Richards, who was arrested Wednesday in connection with an incident near La Pintoresca Park last weekend, was arraigned at the Pasadena Courthouse today. She plead not guilty according to Los Angeles County District Attorney spokesperson Greg Risling.
Bail was set at $75,000 in today’s arraignment.
Richards’ next court date has been set for a September 23 preliminary hearing.
