Bomb Scare at Caltech Parking Lot

Published on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 | 3:11 pm

On March 31 at about 11:45 a.m. Pasadena Police officers responded to a suspicious circumstances call in a parking structure in the  300 block of Wilson Avenue .

On arrival officers talked with a witness who called PPD after discovering two suspicious suitcases placed on either side of a parked vehicle.  During a preliminary investigation it was determined the suitcases did not belong to the registered owner of the vehicle which increased our concerns.

A bomb detection canine was deployed and alerted on the items.

Subsequently, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Bomb squad was notified and responded.  With the aid of a robot the suitcases were opened and the sheriff’s determined they were not hazardous.  Operations at Caltech were not disrupted and police did not have to conduct evacuations.
