ChapCare Employees to Receive New Response Training

Community Health Alliance of Pasadena, (ChapCare) is implementing of two new programs to raise the standards of its caregivers. The Northwest Pasadena health care provider will pay for training caregivers to be trained in two programs aimed at improving the way caregivers respond to patients and to help patients with chronic illness.

ChapCare employees will be trained under the Certified Medical Assistant Program, a course designed to enhance patient relations and diagnostic procedures. They will also be certified under the Care Navigator Apprenticeship Program, to train and prepare caregivers to respond to the needs of patients who have complex, ongoing problems. According to ChapCare, tasks will include all aspects of clinical care, and mentally preparing patients for self-management.

Recently, two-full time Care Navigators were deployed at ChapCare to work with patients in the Pasadena area. Chapcare was chosen for the CNAP program by the Work Education and Resource Center, the company that trains those enrolled in the program.

“Providing high quality, comprehensive care to our patients is our foremost concern,” said Margaret B. Martinez, ChapCare’s CEO. “These new programs help support this goal by enhancing and expanding our primary care team and the breadth of services they can provide.”

ChapCare was founded in 1995 by members of the Pasadena community to establish primary health care services for low-income and uninsured individuals. They began providing medical services in 1998 and since have expanded to nearby cities in the San Gabriel Valley, such as Monrovia and El Monte. Currently, they provide 64,000 annual visits for over 15,000 patients.
