It was a perfect day for coffee and a chat. Under dappled skies and a verdant tree canopy outside the Linda Vista Branch Library, scores of District 6 residents gathered late Tuesday afternoon for a “Curbside Chat” with City Council and Pasadena Police Department representatives.
Though District Six Councilmember Steve Madison was called away for a court deposition in Nevada, Council field representatives, along with Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez were on hand to answer questions from local residents.
“This is a great way to meet our neighbors, said Sanchez. “We do as many of these throughout the city as we can. Many of these neighbors already know watch other, but if they don’t, it’s a great opportunity to get to know each other.”
Sanchez repeated his advice about preventing burglaries and safe gun storage, and reminded residents not to just post online messages on neighborhood and community websites, but to contact the police department directly as well.
“Nobody knows their neighborhood better than neighbors,” said Sanchez. “And if you see someone or something suspicious, maybe a suspicious car, give us a call, and we will investigate.”
