On June 5, Huntington Hospital Cancer Center hosted an open house to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day. Guests enjoyed delicious food, jazz music, stress-relieving activities, such as adult coloring, and received information about Huntington programs at the Jim and Eleanor Randall Breast Center and the American Cancer Society.
Participants also reconnected with the physicians and staff who had guided them through cancer treatment.
“During a patient’s cancer diagnosis, we treat the whole person, from delivering leading-edge treatment options to providing emotional support services,” said Kenneth Lam, MD, Huntington Hospital Cancer Center. “Now, on National Cancer Survivors Day, it gives us such joy to celebrate with so many of our patients – past and present – and their families and friends, who have worked so hard through their journey with cancer.”
In honor of National Cancer Survivors Day, a survivors tribute tree was temporarily on display in the Huntington Hospital Cancer Center library, where leaves “hang” with personal messages of encouragement and hope.
