PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
• Pasadena’s population more than quadruples on New Year’s Day, with some estimating as many as 700,000 people flock to the city. That means traffic, parking headaches and pain when navigating Pasadena’s clogged streets.

• The Metro Gold Line stops at four stations along the Parade Route: Memorial, Lake, Allen and Sierra Madre Villa.

• Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s bus service goes to and from the Rose Parade, Rose Bowl and post-parade viewing. Buses originate from downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood and other locations. Information: 323-466-3876, www.metro.net. Purchase a $5 day pass before heading to Pasadena to avoid lines.

• Pasadena Transit, the city’s bus service, will not operate on New Year’s Day. It stops operating at 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, so plan accordingly.
