TCL, a Chinese TV brand which is the world’s third-largest, and electronic and e-waste recycling company ERI, are joining forces with the local community in Pasadena to hold America Recycles Day at the Rose Bowl stadium today, Friday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During the event, local residents in the Pasadena area can drop off their unwanted electronics – TV sets and monitors, old PCs and laptops, cell phones and other items – at the Rose Bowl’s Parking Lot K South to dispose of them in an environmentally responsible way – free of charge.

TCL will also give away free burgers from In-N-Out Burger, who will have a food truck nearby, to residents who drop off qualifying items at the event.

Radio station KROQ will be on-site with a promo crew to play music and giveaway events.

“We’re excited to be kicking off this inaugural event in LA with ERI to give residents a convenient and free way to responsibly recycle their products,” Jonathan King, TCL’s Vice President of Corporate and Legal Affairs, said in a statement. “We selected ERI for this event to ensure all products are recycled responsibly based on their strict standards, so residents will be comfortable knowing any data on their devices is safe.”

TCL said the event is the first of a series of recycling activities that they will be hosting in communities across the United States, as part of its commitment to advance convenient and affordable electronics recycling solutions.

“It is an honor to partner with our friends at TCL to benefit the good people of Southern California,” John Shegerian, ERI Co-Founder and Executive Chairman. “The work we will be doing on November 15th will prevent unwanted electronics from ending up in landfills, and partnering with a forward-thinking, environmentally concerned organization like TCL exemplifies what can be accomplished when great organizations pool their resources for the common good.”

ERI will responsibly and securely recycle all e-waste collected for this special manufacturing take-back program, the company said.

TCL also listed video game consoles, old hard drives, DVD players and old VCRs as among those that residents can bring to the America Recycles event for safe disposal. Each person can bring up to five electronic products for disposal.

Used batteries, appliances, air conditioners, bottles, cans, newspapers, clothes, plastic bottles, glass and other similar items will not be accepted, TCL said.
