Letter to the Editor: The Teachers of Sierra Madre Elementary School Feel Their Hard Work Goes Unappreciated by School Board

Published on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 | 7:43 pm

To Whom It May Concern,

We, the teachers of Sierra Madre Elementary School, feel very strongly that our school board does not appreciate how hard we work. If they did, we would be getting a fair raise- one that reflects the cost of living increases in our area. The school board is constantly adding more and more to our plate, working many overtime hours to give our students and their families the best that we have to offer. In spite of this, our requests for a fair cost of living salary increase have been ignored.

We find it demeaning and disheartening to continue to protest for this salary increase that will enable us to live in a community that we work in. Without this raise, many of us will have to relocate to communities that are more affordable, and ones that support and value their teachers.
