New Creative Venue Offers Fun Ways to Get in Touch with Your Inner Artist

Professional mixed media artist Lisa Agaran has launched a new creative venue called True Creativity Within, which offers non-traditional classes to explore one’s artistic side.

In a city full of traditional art classes such as oil painting, drawing or watercolor, Lisa has developed classes where the primary technique is utilizing Mixed Media, requiring little to no prior art experience.

Mixed Media Art combines different mediums such as collage, acrylic paint, pencil, stamping, encaustic wax, stitching and found objects into the artwork. With Mixed Media, basically anything can be incorporated into creating art.

With the growing popularity of Mixed Media Art, more individuals are exploring this form of creating. It is the ideal medium to free up one’s creativity without any expectations.
Lisa believes, if provided a fun class, in a supportive environment, without the pressure of having to know how to draw or paint, students are more likely to tap into their True Creativity. In her workshops, Lisa encourages students to get messy and to welcome mistakes or accidents to occur.

“I believe when we surrender to our intuition, create spontaneously, without an inclination of what it’s supposed to look like, then magic happens. Everyone is creative. They just need a safe place and permission to be creative without judgment or preconceived ideas.” This organic process invites the student to discover his or her own creative voice and style.

Lisa not only teaches fun and easy to learn techniques, she also coaches workshop attendees through the creative process so they don’t feel intimidated. Workshops are designed for beginner to intermediate adults and are held at different locations throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Lisa Agaran founder and lead instructor of True Creativity Within is a professional Mixed Media artist and has done group and solo shows through Los Angeles and New Mexico. She graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and has a background in graphic design and psychology.
