Osawa Celebrates Three Years

Published on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 | 11:12 am

Osawa celebrates three years as a staple of Japanese cuisine in Old Pasadena. Their menu includes sushi, shabu-shabu and Omotenashi, or hospitality, plus Happy Hour deals. The restaurant was started three years ago by Sayuri Tachibe and Chef de Cuisine Norio Yoshikawa (Katsuya).

Otsumami or snacks are the mainstay of this posh lunch and dinner spot and include shishito tempura stuffed spicy tuna and king salmon ceviche with chili lemon soy. These small bites are the perfect companion to Osawa’s selection of sake, wine and Asian beers like Sapporo, Asahi and Koshihikari Echigo.

For something more substantial, the shabu-shabu portion of their menu offers more substantial dishes like Tonkatsu silver pork and King salmon with spicy miso broth. These dishes are favorites among regulars and come elegantly plated.

Finally, sushi rounds out the menu and includes the popular Dragon Roll, filled with spicy tuna and topped high with cucumber, eel and avocado. Customers recommend the yellowtail and unagi sushi but everything on the sushi bar is delicately and beautifully crafted.

Osawa is the ideal place for a chic lunch or relaxing dinner or mellow Happy Hour. It’s small size and clean decor give it the perfect atmosphere for winding down. The restaurant is almost always busy so be sure to plan ahead for large groups.

Osawa is located at 77 N. Raymond Avenue. Call (626) 683-1150 or visit www.theosawa.com.
