At the latest Business Growth Workshop at the University Club of Pasadena on Tuesday morning, Sara Hammes delivered a 21st century presentation on how to gain a competitive advantage by improving market insight. Offering a truly modern perspective that balanced holistic intuition with the technological power of big data, the presentation captivated the gathered Pasadena business owners. In an astute exercise, Sara Hammes emphasized the importance of knowing the “Why?” as well as the “What?” when your company enters a new marketplace.

Introduced by James Harwood of Total HR Management, Sara Hammes has been advising and managing young emerging companies for over 20 years. As a former journalist with Fortune Magazine, Sara applies her journalistic technique of investigation when examining the needs of a new company client. Built on insight and disciplined execution, her market-centric approaches have been proven to help companies establish their market position.

In her dynamic presentation, Sara Hammes of The Vita Group emphasized the importance on not relying too heavily on the first big idea highlighted by a company as being essential to their business, otherwise known as the founder’s idea. Beyond the first big idea, correlations and inferences must be made in order to perceive the whole ecosystem of a business. As Sara pointed out to the gathered professionals:

“You have to know what are the underlying forces affecting both your business and your competition as well. You can no longer just take a linear approach. In the modern age, pluralistic insight has become a necessity. However, seeing intuitively beyond the obvious is not so simple and demands a disciplined effort.”

Sara Hammes emphasizes the importance of thinking outside the box in the 21st century. By understanding the marketplace of a business in greater depth and detail, a company’s newfound success can appear on the hear horizon. If executives push themselves to see beyond traditional perspectives, the pay-off comes in a more focused business model.

Once again, the University Club of Pasadena delivers a valued resource to the community. With the monthly Business Growth Workshops led by James Harwood of Total HR Management, actual insight into running a successful company in today’s marketplace has been delivered time and time again. With the cutting edge presentation of Sara Hammes in May of 2015, the track record of success and insight continues to be expanded upon.
