Unpredictable Weather Expected Through Next Week

Southern California weather is expected to fluctuate between sunny and rainy toward the weekend, and even more unpredictable through next week, the National Weather Service says in its latest forecast.

A ridge (high pressure) that advanced into the area Wednesday will quickly scoot to the east Thursday in the face of an advancing trough (low), bringing in a combination of morning low clouds and mid- and high-level clouds and making Thursday a mostly cloudy day, “but weak offshore flow and 581dm heights will make it a warm one,” the NWS says.

In Pasadena, highs will be near 77 Thursday, and in most valley areas in Los Angeles County, highs in the 70s and a few 80 degree readings cannot be ruled out especially if there is a sunny gap between the morning low clouds and the afternoon mid-level clouds.

Thursday night will show a 30 percent chance of rain and will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. At this time, a fairly strong but quick moving front will move through the area, the NWS says, bringing in some more rain from Thursday evening through Friday night.

Friday will have significant rain mainly after 11 a.m., with highs near 64. The chance of precipitation is around 90 percent.

Friday night is still likely to be rainy, mainly before 11 p.m., after which it will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. The chance of rain is predicted to be around 70 percent.

Skies will clear Saturday in the wake of the trough, and the day will be mostly sunny again, with a high near 62.

Saturday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 44.

Sunday will be sunny with a high near 70, and Sunday night will be mostly clear with a low around 45.
