Warm and Muggy Through the Holiday Weekend

Published on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 | 4:42 pm

July came into Pasadena warm and muggy, and it is likely to stay that way for the rest of the week through the Fourth of July weekend.

A Fourth of July weekend prognosis based on National Weather Service data says much of the West will remain firecracker hot, primarily because of the upper-level ridge of high pressure, with highs well into the 90s and triple digits in many lower-elevation sections and inland from the Pacific coast.

The rest of the week may present mostly sunny days and partly cloudy nights, with the highs in the upper 80’s and lows not getting lower than 65 degrees.

Humidity is predicted to be between 55 and 57 percent, quite unusual for Los Angeles county which is usually hot and dry this time of the year. The NWS says this is due to a high pressure ridge, and that coupled with the warm and humid air could possible cause some thunderstorms.

Showers and thunderstorms for the mountains and deserts are possible through the week, but low pressure may bring in a cooling trend by the weekend.
