City officials are urging motorists this morning to be extra cautious as the week begins with more rain in Pasadena. “The parade of storms,” as meteorologists now call the recent spate of low pressure areas, continues hitting the West Coast.

After moderate rain started whipping across Southern California Sunday night, Monday’s rain chance increases to 100 percent as another storm in the parade comes in from the Pacific, first impacting Northern California and then going further south causing half-inch and 1.5-inch of rain in Pasadena and most of Los Angeles County, especially the San Gabriel Valley.

“Yes, a soggy Monday morning commute is all but guaranteed for the LA metro area,” the National Weather Service says in a Forecast Discussion issued Sunday morning for the Los Angeles forecast region. “Rain will turn to scattered showers in the afternoon except over the San Gabriel Valley which looks to stay rainy all day long.”

Monday is also predicted to the the coldest of the coming week, with maximum temperatures about four to eight degrees below normal.

Monday’s high will be near 61 as gusty south to southwest winds come with the rain.

By Monday night, rain is likely mainly before 11 p.m. and then will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 49.

Tuesday will still have a 40 percent chance of rain, partly sunny, with a high near 64. By Tuesday night will be partly cloudy, with a lower rain chance at 20 percent, and a low around 52.

A growing ridge (high pressure) will slowly shunt the moisture stream to the north on Wednesday, the NWS says, which means could be dry and mostly sunny, signaling a clearing trend. Maximum temperatures will also warm to normal, with Wednesday’s highs near 72.

Wednesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Here’s how the rest of the week should look:

Thursday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 73.

Thursday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Friday – A chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 69.

Friday Night – A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49.

Saturday – Sunny, with a high near 71.
