Congratulations to Pasadena High School’s New Eagle Scout

Congratulations to Pasadena High School 12th grade student Dominic Morquecho on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Dominic received his Eagle Scout Award at the Eagle Scout Court of Honor on March 4th along with two other members of Boy Scout Troop 27. Those other two scouts are Joseph Nunez, from Aveson Charter School and Robert Quiroz from Marshall Fundamental.

In 2005, Dominic began as a Cub Scout in Pack 37. He progressed through Cub Scouts earning his Arrow of Light Award and then bridged to Troop 27 in 2010. During his time in Troop 27, Dominic served as Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. Boy Scout Troop 27 has been in existence since 1933.

Dominic’s most memorable Boy Scout experience was at Camp Chawanakee located at Shaver Lake, CA. His favorite activity was taking a canoe across the lake to begin his camping experience. He specifically remembers this trip because this is where he experienced having the most fun in the outdoors. This experience at Camp Chawanakee allowed him to explore the outdoors and to build friendships. His time at Camp Chawanakee also allowed him to gain leadership experience. Lots of dreams were born on this trip, one he will never forget.

It should be noted that only approximately 4% of all Boy Scouts go on to become Eagle Scouts. In addition to the merit badges and the leadership requirements Dominic was required to successfully complete an Eagle Project. Dominic’s Eagle Project wasw to widen a concrete path at Camp Sky Meadows. Over the course of 3 days he led 27 Boy Scout and adult volunteers in the pouring of over 1000 pounds of cement to widen a concrete walkway between the camp’s bathhouse and pool. The purpose of the project was both to allow more people to walk on the path as well as to improve drainage and reduce flooding. The project was a sucess due to Dominic’s planning and the contributions of Camp Sky Meadows and Troop 27’s volunteers.

During his time at Pasadena High School, Dominic has played the trumpet in our Bulldog Marching Band. Dominic does plan on attending college with the goal of becoming a chemical engineer. He has not yet decided which college he will be attending.

Congratulations Dominic. PHS is very proud of your accomplishments!
