Flintridge Prep Girls Soccer Earns Numerous Post-Season Honors

Following the most successful season in many years, including the team’s first ever trip to CIF semifinals, Prep’s varsity girls soccer team has even more to celebrate this week with the announcement of All-Area honors.

Thanks to her incredible 31 goals and 30 assists this season, Helen Schaefer ’19 was named the Glendale News-Press Player of the Year. In addition, five players were named to their All-Area 1st Team, including Julia Gonzalez ’18, Mika Celeste ’19, Mona Cesario ’18, Jillian Brady ’17 and Lindsey Uteda ’18. Two players, Schaefer and Gonzalez, were named to the Pasadena Star-News 1st Team. Several were given 2nd and 3rd Team honors.

With an amazing 127-38-27 record, Coach Esteban Chavez was named both the Pasadena Star-News and Glendale News-Press Coach of the Year. Noting his ability to bring the team together, despite the departure of a handful of players this season, both sources praise his tenacity and mentorship.

“Nothing is better than helping them reach their dreams,” says Coach Chavez. “Teaching them life lessons and molding them into strong and confident young women will always be the main goal of this program.”

Congratulations, Rebels soccer!
