Pasadena Unified Announces Selection of Sierra Madre Elementary School Principal

Lindsay Lewis

The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) announces the selection of Lindsay Lewis as Principal of Sierra Madre Elementary School.

Ms. Lewis is already a part of the Sierra Madre Elementary community, having served as the school’s Curriculum Resource Teacher since 2011. She worked closely with former Principal Esther Salinas, faculty, and the community in transitioning instruction to the new state learning standards. During her time of service, Sierra Madre was named a California Gold Ribbon School and earned the California Exemplary Arts Education Award in 2016.
“I am so excited to serve and support the Sierra Madre Elementary School community as we embark on this new journey!” said Ms. Lewis.

In addition to being a resource teacher, Ms. Lewis has taught every grade level from kindergarten through eighth grades. She began her educational career in San Diego Unified School District as a first grade teacher. Ms. Lewis also taught in Lemon Grove, Poway, and El Cajon Unified School Districts before joining the Pasadena Unified School District in 2001.

A product of Pasadena Unified Schools, Ms. Lewis attended Burbank Elementary School and graduated from John Muir High School.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Psychology and Teacher Education from the University of California, San Diego; a teaching credential from San Diego State University; a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from National University; and holds an administrative preliminary credential.

Ms. Lewis was selected after a competitive process that included input provided by Sierra Madre Elementary stakeholders, students, employees, and parents that informed the development of the new principal profile.

Ms. Lewis’ appointment was effective July 1, 2016. Former principal Dr. Esther C. Salinas has been selected as the district Ombuds Officer.
