St. Monica Crushes Calvary Baptist, 61-40

On Friday Feb. 6 at Calvary Baptist School in La Verne, St. Monica Academy (Pasadena) overwhelmed rival Calvary Baptist to take first place in the Division 6 International League. Freshman center Freddy Sayegh was the Crusaders’ MVP, with critical blocked shots, rebounds, and put-back points. Senior Jacob Scott came up big off the bench with 14 points, especially two early 3-pointers to give St. Monica momentum. Senior Pablo Freymann broke away with a steal and fast-break assist to Freddy Sayegh just when the Cougars were trying to mount a comeback and had cut St. Monica’s lead to 9 points. Sophomore Basil Inman dominated the driving lanes with 6 straight points down the stretch to close out the game. St. Monica’s overall record is 12-8; league record, 8-2.
