Progress against the pandemic continued Wednesday with only a single case of COVID-19 documented in the city.

The city’s pandemic totals stood at 11,295 known infections and 347 deaths, according to Pasadena Public Health Department data. The most recent fatality was reported on May 27.

The average number of daily infections over the prior week held steady at 1.1, as the city had not seen a daily case count higher than single digits in a month.

With state COVID-19 protocols set to be lifted in under two weeks, Los Angeles County Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer noted that the board of the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or Cal-OSHA, will be meeting Thursday to potentially enact continued workplace regulations that will remain in effect regardless of the June 15 lifting of other COVID rules.

The proposed Cal-OSHA rules would continue to require face coverings at all indoor work sites, unless everyone in the room is fully vaccinated and showing no symptoms of COVID-19. Similar rules would apply to outdoor worksites.

“It will be important for all businesses to know that they do need to comply with all of the Cal-OSHA masking and distancing requirements at worksites past June 15,” Ferrer said.

The county on Wednesday reported nine more COVID-19 deaths, lifting the overall death toll to 24,354.

Another 120 infections were announced by the county, pushing the cumulative total from throughout the pandemic to 1,244,254.

According to state figures, there were 244 people hospitalized in the county due to COVID, down from 254 on Tuesday, with 42 people in intensive care, down from 47 a day ago.

At the state level, public health officials announced 461 infections and 23 deaths on Wednesday, bringing the pandemic totals to 3,685,916 COVID-19 cases and 62,044 deaths.

The statewide average positivity rate over the prior week increased by a tenth of a percent to 0.8%, according to California Department of Public Health data.

As of Wednesday, L.A. County represented 34% of California’s total COVID-19 infections and 39% of the state’s fatalities.
