In the realm of artistic expression, where movement becomes poetry and the stage a canvas for the soul, the Nancy Evans Dance Theater (NEDT) has spent the last decade and a half crafting a legacy that resonates with the heartbeat of contemporary dance. As the company reaches its 15th anniversary, it prepares to celebrate with an eclectic evening of critically-acclaimed works that showcase its rich history and growth.
The Dance Theater company will mark the anniversary with performances on May 11 at 8 p.m., May 12 at 4 p.m., May 18 at 8 p.m., and May 19 at 4 p.m. at ARC (A Room to Create) 1158 East Colorado, in Pasadena.
The eclectic evenings will showcase the company’s critically-acclaimed repertory works, highlighting NEDT’s growth and history over the past 15 years.
Artistic Director Nancy Evans Doede’s world premiere of “Landscapes” will be a centerpiece of the performances. The program will also include Doede’s lauded works “Tethered” (2010), “Shifting Sands” (2011), “Sad Birds” (2012), and “Italy” (2012).
Resident choreographers and founding company members Ashleigh Doede and Jenn Logan will have several pieces featured. Ashleigh Doede revisits her 2018 abstract trio “Tick,” which deconstructs a timepiece, while Jenn Logan brings back “The Joneses,” a dysfunctional family piece, and the playful “Lucy” from her 2015 work, “Apartment 6B.”
