[UPDATED]   A 72-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso, back and arms at the hands of a 14-year-old boy during a Tuesday afternoon incident in the 1200 block of East Orange Grove Boulevard, police said.

The man, a Pasadena resident, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition and authorities expect him to survive, Pasadena Police Lt. John Luna said. He was found by officers and a police helicopter shortly after the units responded to a 3:49 p.m. call reporting the stabbing.

As officers were investigating at the scene less than an hour later, the suspect told a citizen that he had been the victim of a crime. The citizen called police, Luna said, and responding officers near the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Walnut Street detained the boy, surmising he was the person who had stabbed the elderly man.

A field show up was conducted and the boy was positively identified by witnesses as the attacker, Luna said.

At that point the boy was arrested for attempted murder, Luna said, and transported to juvenile hall.

According to City News Service, Pasadena Police  Sgt. Glenn Thompson said the juvenile suspect told police he recognized the victim as a peeping Tom who watched his sister through her window several years ago.
