15-Year-Old Arrested for Alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon

South Pasadena police officers arrested a 15-year-old boy after an altercation early Saturday morning that resulted in injuries to a 23-year-old man in the 1700 block of Grevelia Street in South Pasadena.

A South Pasadena Police Department statement said officers responded to the scene at about 12:54 a.m. Saturday after reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area. When they arrived, the officers learned that one of the people involved in the fight was struck in the head with a glass bottle and had run towards Garfield Park.

During a follow-up, the officers found the 23-year-old man bleeding from multiple lacerations in the face and the head. Rescuers from the South Pasadena Fire Department took the man to a hospital for treatment.

After further investigation, the officers learned that the victim was injured from being struck multiple times with an aluminum baseball bat.

Officers interviewed the victim and witnesses in the area, and subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 15-year-old boy for alleged assault with a deadly weapon.
