2 Gunmen Sought in Pasadena Carjacking

Police sought two men who carjacked a driver at gunpoint along Fair Oaks Avenue in Pasadena on Friday evening, authorities said.

A Montclair man in his 40s was sitting in his parked car talking on the phone about 7 p.m. in the 900 block of South Fair Oaks Avenue when two men approached, both brandishing handguns, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.

The carjackers demanded the victim get out of his car, and he complied, according to the lieutenant.

The gunman also robbed the victim of his cell phone before fleeing in his car, which also contained his wallet, Burgess said.

Police said the carjackers were last seen headed south on Fair Oaks Avenue in the stolen vehicle, described as a green Honda Element with  California license plate of 5PRS955, he said.

The witnesses initially described the carjackers as two Latino men in their 30s, both about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing roughly 145 pounds, according to Burgess. One wore a black hooded sweatshirt and a black surgical-style mask, while the other wore a gray sweater.

Anyone who spots the carjacked vehicle was urged to call 911. Information can also be submitted to the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4501, or anonymously to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
