Gunshots struck and wounded two men around 9:15 p.m. Saturday night in the 1000 block of North Summit Avenue. Both are expected to survive.
Police officers in the area heard the shots and, pinpointing the scene with help of multiple 911 calls, responded quickly, Pasadena Police Lt. John Mercado said.
Even so, by the time officers arrived the victims and the attacker were gone. Shell casings on the ground were the only evidence of the shooting, he said.
As officers worked at the scene, a call came in from a local hospital that two men suffering gunshot wounds had been dropped off for treatment.
Officers were able to contact the victims and to determine the shooter was a black man wearing a white T-shirt, who fired a semi-automatic handgun.
According to Mercado the victims are described as a 40-year-old man from Azusa who was shot in the back, and a Pasadena man in his early 20’s who was shot in the hand.
The investigation is continuing.
