[Updated] Orange County Fire Authority personnel extinguished a vegetation fire around 2:30 p.m. today at the 710/210 freeway eastbound connector, a Pasadena fire official said.
The 12 Orange County personnel were returning from the Chimney Fire up north when they spotted the blaze and pulled over to knock it down.
“The brush fire started at the right shoulder area,” said Officer Michelle Bond of the Altadena Highway Patrol. “It was a small brush fire.”
“Pasadena Fire personnel responded within minutes to ensure there were no further spot fires,” said Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department. “In these weather conditions with low humidity and high heat fire spread is rapid within light fuels so their timing was advantageous in preventing further spread.”
